Russia concludes a “comprehensive strategic partnership” agreement with Iran for 20 years
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed an agreement on a “comprehensive strategic partnership” between the two countries. This is reported by rosZMI.
The document covers a wide range of areas, including defense, counter-terrorism, energy, finance, transport, industry, agriculture, culture, science and technology. Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali noted that the agreement consists of 47 articles, but its text has not yet been officially made public.
This agreement takes relations between Russia and Iran to a new level. Previously, cooperation was regulated by the agreement “On the foundations of mutual relations and principles of cooperation”, concluded in 2001, which was automatically renewed every five years. The new contract is designed for a 20-year period.
“The agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be an important factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations”, – emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Serhiy Lavrov.
