Russia hits Lviv with ballistic missile
On the evening of January 8, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Lviv using a ballistic missile traveling at ultra-high speed. After the air alert was announced, the city’s residents heard a series of explosions.
As reported by the Air Command “West”, the strike was recorded at 23:47, and the air target was moving along a ballistic trajectory at a speed of about 13 thousand kilometers per hour. As a result of the attack, a critical infrastructure facility in Lviv was hit.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi confirmed the fact of the hit and noted that the type of missile used is currently being clarified:
“Whether it was an “Oreshnik” – is currently unknown. The military will provide information. There is a flight to the critical infrastructure facility. All relevant services are working on the site, the fire is being extinguished.”
According to information, civilian infrastructure and residential buildings were not damaged as a result of the strike, and data on the victims as of this morning, none. The head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyy reported that laboratory tests were conducted at the site of the attack, which confirmed the absence of threats to the population: the radiation background remains within normal limits, and no excess concentration of harmful substances in the air was detected.
