On the night of May 24, Russian forces launched a massive attack with missiles and drones on Ukraine, including Kyiv. Damage was recorded in all areas of the capital. This was reported by Timur Tkachenko, Mayor Vitaly Klitschko and State Emergency Service.
In Darnytskyi district, a dormitory building, several non-residential premises, a service station, and cars parked near a residential building were damaged due to falling debris from a UAV and missiles. Rescuers are evacuating residents of the dormitory and extinguishing the fire.
In the Obolonsky district, a UAV hit a private one-story residential building. Also, after the UAV hit, a fire broke out in an open area near a three-story residential building.
In the same district, a fire broke out in a 16-story residential building at the level of floors 12-13, and a fire also occurred in an open area that spread to another residential building. The State Emergency Service also reported a fire in a construction hypermarket.
In the Shevchenkivsky district, two residential buildings and an office center were damaged by falling rocket fragments. The market area, two schools, and a gas pipe between residential buildings were also affected. In addition, the building of the museum of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kyiv region was damaged.
In the Dnipro district, debris fell on the roof of a residential building. Also, a fire broke out after a UAV hit a private residential building. In addition, a warehouse building and a garage cooperative were damaged.
In the Svyatoshyn district, debris from the missile fell on a one-story private residential building. In the Podilskyi district, debris fell on the territory of non-residential buildings. In the Holosiivskyi district, missile debris fell on the roof of a 24-story residential building.
In the Desnyanskyi district, drone debris hit the buildings of a supermarket and a shopping center.
In the Solomyanskyi district, a drone hit the 23rd floor of a 24-story residential building, causing a fire and destroying structural elements.
A fire broke out in the Pechersk district after a UAV hit a 20-story residential building.
The CEO of Ukrposhta, Ihor Smilyansky, reported damage to the company’s main office on the Maidan Independence.
In addition, an architectural monument – the National Museum “Chernobyl” – was destroyed in Kyiv, said the head of the Association of Chernobyl Operators Yaroslav Yemelyanenko.
“The feelings are the same as when the Russian Federation destroyed all our facilities in the Chernobyl zone in 22. It’s hard, but the main thing is that everyone is alive,” he wrote.
According to the mayor, the number of victims has increased to 21 people, including a 15-year-old boy. 13 people were hospitalized, three are in serious condition. According to preliminary data, one person was killed in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
The Russian strike also affected the Kyiv region. According to the head of the regional military administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, there are victims in the Fastiv and Buchanskyi districts.
In the Fastiv district, private houses and a high-rise building were damaged. In the Buchansky district, an enterprise, warehouses, a multi-storey building, and three private houses were damaged.
Private houses were damaged in the Obukhiv and Brovary districts, in the Bila Tserkva district – the territory of a garage cooperative, in Vyshgorod – a private house and a multi-storey building, in Boryspil – utility rooms.
