Russian units are trying to penetrate the territory of Sumy region: the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine

Russian assault groups and DRGs are trying to infiltrate Sumy Oblast. About this reported spokesman of the State Border Service Andriy Demchenko on the air of the telethon.

“The enemy uses different tactics to try to enter our territory,” Demchenko noted.

In particular, in the direction of the settlements of Novenke, Zhuravka and Basivka, the Russians are using small assault groups with the aim of accumulating forces on Ukrainian territory and expanding the combat zone. This section of the border borders directly with the Kursk region of Russia.

“In the direction of Novenky, Zhuravka, the enemy uses small assault groups, which are destroyed by the Ukrainian military on the approaches to the border or already on the territory of Ukraine, if the occupiers managed to enter it.” Demchenko clarified.

At the same time, subversive and intelligence groups continue to try to infiltrate.

“We record more active such actions in the north of the Sumy region”, explained the spokesperson.

He also noted that there is a risk of DRG infiltration in other parts of the border with Russia within Sumy Oblast. One of these groups was discovered on the approaches to the border in the Sumy district, but this area is not connected with the events near the Kursk region.

Demchenko emphasized that the tasks of the Russian DRG differ from the assault groups operating near Kurshchyna. Subversive groups are trying to identify the positions of the Defense Forces, strike at Ukrainian troops or mine the area.
