SBU detained two deputy heads of regional departments over bribery in the amber business

Internal security The Security Service of Ukraine detained two deputy heads of regional departments of the SBU and an intermediary who were trying to create an illegal scheme in the Rivne region. This was reported by the SBU and Procurator General’s Office.

According to sources, these are Igor Brika, Deputy Head of the USBU in the Rivne region, and Oleh Tokarchuk, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

According to the investigation, the organizers, through an intermediary, demanded $620,000 from the head of a company that is a monopoly in the amber business for a promise to close a previously opened criminal case. SBU internal security officers detained both organizers and the intermediary during the transfer of more than $270,000.

Currently, searches are being conducted in the offices of the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region, the USBU in Rivne region, and at the places of residence of the suspects.

A notice of suspicion is being prepared for the detainees under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving an illegal benefit by an official). The investigation is ongoing, and all those responsible face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
