Scholz harshly commented on the proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine

According to the German chancellor, the implementation of such an idea will cause the capitulation of Kyiv.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that his country is against a ceasefire in Ukraine, as it would result in Kyiv’s capitulation. About this write edition of the ASB Zeitung.

“In my opinion, we cannot support a ceasefire, the goal of which is the surrender of Ukraine, from the side of Germany”, – stressed Scholz.

In addition, the politician recalled the recent statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding “peace talks” and the withdrawal of the Ukrainian army from the territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.

“This shows how cynical the Russian authorities think and that the head of the Kremlin is not going to stop the war at all. We will not tolerate it.”, – noted the chancellor.

At the same time, Scholz assured his fellow citizens that Germany would not participate in the war in Ukraine.

As you know, on July 2, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban was in Kyiv for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. He held a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during which he offered Ukraine to cease fire.

“I asked Mr. President to think about whether it is not possible to go a little differently, take a break – cease fire and then start and continue negotiations, because a cease-fire could ensure the acceleration of the pace of these negotiations”, – said Orban.

However, Zelensky did not agree with his “peace plan”, recalling the politician’s previous unsuccessful experience of agreements with Moscow on a ceasefire.
