Scholz says he is ready for talks with Putin

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again declared his readiness for negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve a just peace in Ukraine. Scholz announced this during a speech in the Bundestag before the summit of EU leaders, reports Rhenish Post.

Discussing the war between Russia and Ukraine, Scholz noted that Ukraine has agreed to Russia’s participation in the upcoming Peace Summit.

“That’s why it’s also right that when we are asked if we will also talk to the Russian president, we answer: “Yes, also yes”. – said Scholz.

At the same time, he emphasized that he will act only in accordance with clear principles, in particular, no decisions without the consent of Ukraine and consultations with the closest partners.

In addition, Scholz noted that many Russian soldiers die every day because of Putin’s “imperialist ambitions.”

“They are also victims of his policies aimed at expanding his country. This is something that should not happen again in Europe.”, – emphasized the chancellor.

Earlier it was reported that Scholz considered the possibility of a telephone conversation with Putin before the G20 summit, which will be held in November in Brazil. The Kremlin has said that Putin is ready for talks, but Berlin has not yet made any relevant proposals.
