German Chancellor Olaf Scholz sharply criticized Elon Musk for supporting right-wing parties in the European Union. About this informs Reuters.
Scholz said that Musk openly supports right-wing politicians in Europe, which, according to him, is unacceptable and harms the democratic development of the EU.
“And it’s really disgusting and it’s not good for democratic development in the whole European Union,” – noted the chancellor.
Musk, known for his closeness to Donald Trump, has repeatedly criticized the German chancellor and his government, calling for Scholz to resign. In addition, he stated that the far-right party “Alternative for Germany” (AfD) is the only chance to save the country.
The American businessman recently joined an AfD campaign event via video link, during which he said that Germans should not feel guilty for the crimes of their ancestors and should be proud of their own culture.
“I am absolutely critical of what Elon Musk said about the history of Germany,” – stressed Scholz.
The chancellor stressed that the country bears responsibility for its actions in the past, in particular for the events of the Second World War, and that this week the world commemorates the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz. He also thanked the United States for helping to free Germany from Nazism and restore democracy. According to Scholz, that is why he is so outraged by Musk’s support for far-right forces.
