Since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Defense has delivered over 1 million FPV drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

From January to July 2025, the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine handed over 1 million FPV drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. About this informs press service of the Ministry of Defense.

“Our priority is to develop the most effective mechanisms to provide soldiers on the front lines with the drones they need. As mandated, the Defense Acquisition Agency is working to increase the pace of supply and ensure that each unit receives exactly what it needs to carry out its combat missions.” – stressed Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

Director of the “Defense Procurement Agency” Arsen Zhumadilov noted that the transfer of one million FPV drones is an important but not final stage:

“We launched additional tools for the mass supply of UAVs. These are framework agreements in the Prozorro system and DOT-Chain Defense. The latter allows units to independently choose the necessary drones. We are working to ensure that the Armed Forces receive the necessary high-quality UAVs at the expense of the state budget.”

To increase supply, the agency implemented new approaches to procurement, including framework agreements based on tactical technical characteristics (TTC) and the DOT-Chain Defense weapons marketplace. Thanks to framework agreements, it is possible to contract manufacturers not by the names of specific models, but according to the extent to which their drones meet the established requirements. This makes it possible to attract more manufacturers, create competition between them and ensure transparency of purchases through the Prozorro system.

The DOT-Chain Defense IT platform works on the principle of a marketplace, allowing the military to independently choose drones. This approach ensures prompt and targeted delivery of drones to frontline units. Currently, the system is operating in pilot mode — 12 combat brigades participate in it, and they themselves form orders for the UAVs they need.
