Slovakia confirms resumption of Druzhba oil pipeline operation
On August 20, Slovakia confirmed the restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline. Minister of Economy of the country Denisa Sakova reportedthat the supply of oil to the country is carried out as usual.
Two days ago, as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack on the Nikolskoye station in the Tambov region of Russia, the pumping of oil through this pipeline was temporarily stopped. This caused a sharp reaction and threats from the Hungarian authorities. The incident became the second damage to the infrastructure of the Druzhba oil pipeline within one week. This time, the consequences led to the limitation of the pipeline itself.
“In the coming days, we will have clearer information on whether there will be changes to the supply schedule this month and whether the damage to infrastructure outside the Slovak Republic will affect the total monthly supply volume. However, I am convinced that thanks to the prompt resumption of transportation through the Druzhba pipeline, the consequences will be minimal.”, – explained Denisa Sakova.
Restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline confirmed also the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto:
“We expect that Ukraine will not strike again at the pipeline, which is critically important for our country’s energy supply. This war is not our war, so let us be left out.”
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that the attack on the Nikolskoye oil pumping station was carried out because of its use to support the Russian occupation forces.
