South Korea explained how they will supply weapons to Ukraine

Amid growing military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, South Korea is actively discussing the possibility of providing Ukraine with air defense systems and artillery shells.

According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, citing government sources, Seoul sees these moves as supporting Ukraine in its war with Russia.

There are various options for providing weapons, and our position on the latest developments between Russia and North Korea depends on the development of relations between these countries in the future.”, a representative of the South Korean government told Yonhap.

Previously, South Korea limited itself to humanitarian aid and non-lethal military equipment to Ukraine, in line with its policy of not providing lethal weapons to countries at war.

Among the potential weapons under consideration are 155-mm artillery shells, as well as air defense systems that Ukraine needs, government sources said.

However, in public statements, Seoul officials have remained strategically vague about the types of weapons, seen as a diplomatic move to use the opportunity to pressure Moscow to refrain from transferring key military technology to Pyongyang.

We will remind you that Vladimir Putin threatened South Korea – if Seoul provides lethal weapons to Ukraine, it will be a “very big mistake”.
