Streaming platform Spotify removed 13.36% of Ukrainian tracks created using artificial intelligence and published in 2025. This was reported by the NUAM service, which monitors and researches Ukrainian music.
According to the service, out of about 35 thousand discovered AI compositions, 4.7 thousand currently remain inaccessible. In February 2026, Ukrainian artists and AI generators released 3,657 new tracks, of which the platform removed only 40.
In September 2023, amid the growing popularity of AI, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek stated in an interview with the BBC that he did not plan to completely ban content created by artificial intelligence, noting that it could become a tool like autotune.
At the same time, the service prohibits the use of AI to imitate the voices of real performers without their consent. It is for this reason that in 2025, the track Heart on My Sleeve was removed, in which artificial intelligence reproduced the voices of Drake and The Weeknd without their permission.
The composition was created by songwriter Ghostwriter, who later submitted it to the Grammy Awards in the categories “best rap song” and “song of the year”, where authors are awarded. Neither Drake nor The Weeknd were aware of the use of cloned versions of their voices. In April, the track disappeared from Spotify and other streaming platforms.
Despite this incident, the platform generally does not ban music created with the help of AI, as long as it does not infringe copyright or mislead listeners.
