In 2025, the State Film Agency of Ukraine will not conclude new contracts for the production of films — state funding will be provided exclusively to those projects on which work has begun earlier. About this reported representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
“It has been established that in 2025, budget funds will be used to finance films whose production (creation) began in previous years. In 2025, State Cinema will not be allowed to enter into new contracts for the production (creation) of films until the completion of production (creation) of films for which advance payment has been made.” – says the message.
The Cabinet of Ministers made a corresponding decision at a meeting on June 4, making changes to the procedure for using budget funds provided for the support of cinematography. According to the updated rules, the determination of the winners of the competitive selection will depend on the amount of available funding for the current year, as well as on the established budget limits for the medium-term perspective.
In the draft state budget for 2025, 204.1 million hryvnias are provided for Derzhkino. Of this amount, UAH 30.4 million should be directed to the management and administration of the industry, and UAH 173.7 million to support film production. Part of the funds is planned to be used for documenting war crimes. New contracts with film producers will not be concluded until the financing of already started films, for which previous payments have been made, is fully completed.
