Steve Witkoff says progress expected in Ukraine peace talks in coming weeks

US President Donald Trump’s special representative Steve Witkoff commented on the recent exchange of prisoners of war between Ukraine and Russia and stated that progress in peace talks is expected in the coming weeks. He wrote about this in X.

According to Witkoff, the exchange was made possible by agreements reached during recent trilateral talks in Geneva with the participation of the United States.

“This exchange was made possible by long and detailed peace negotiations led by President Donald Trump. Under the leadership of the President, we continue to achieve significant results, working to formulate a peace agreement that will end the war once and for all. Negotiations are ongoing, and additional progress is expected in the coming weeks, – said he.

On March 5, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had held a conversation with the United States regarding possible changes to the location and timing of the trilateral Ukraine-US-Russia meeting. Before that, he noted that the meeting with the United States and Russia, which was planned for early March, was not postponed due to the war in the Middle East, and expressed his wish that it be held in Europe.
