Sybiga informed his Brazilian colleague about Ukrainian intelligence data, which indicate Russia’s probable preparations for strikes on Ukrainian nuclear power plants. He emphasized that such actions could lead to a serious nuclear disaster and endanger the lives of millions of people.
“I called on Brazil to play an important role in avoiding this scenario”, — noted the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
During the meeting, Sybiga also informed about the progress in the implementation of the Peace Formula proposed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, which is aimed at achieving “comprehensive, just and lasting peace” in the region. The minister expressed gratitude to Mauro Vieri for Brazil’s clear position in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Earlier, Sybiga warned about possible strikes by Russia on critical nuclear energy facilities of Ukraine on the eve of the winter period. He called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to strengthen the presence of its missions at all strategic nuclear facilities in the country to ensure their safety.
In particular, we are talking about possible attacks on open distribution devices of nuclear plants and electricity transmission substations, which are critically important for the safe operation of the entire nuclear energy system of Ukraine.
On September 11, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reacted to Brazil’s intentions to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit, expressing concern about such plans and emphasizing the need to increase pressure on Russia from the international community.
