The agricultural land market continued to grow in April 2024

In April 2024, the agricultural land market in Ukraine reached new heights, showing the highest volumes of purchase and sale agreements since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. According to KSE Agrocenter and USAID AGRO Programs, 10,200 agreements were concluded, which is 4.6% more than in March, for a total of 22,300 hectares (+0.3%).
Key growth factors:
- In April, the number of agreements for the purchase and sale of agricultural land increased significantly, reaching a record level since the beginning of the war.
- The share of legal entities in the market was 20.2%, which indicates the growing interest of investors in the agricultural sector of Ukraine.
- Average prices for agricultural land remain stable, at the level of January-February 2024.
Record volumes of leases: On the “Prozorro.Prodazhi” platform, a record number of leased communal lands was recorded. - Since the beginning of the year, local budgets have received almost UAH 9.4 billion in taxes related to the circulation and use of land, which indicates the positive impact of the market on the economy of communities.
Context:
- The agricultural land market in Ukraine has been operational since July 1, 2021.
- From January 1, 2024, legal entities received the right to purchase agricultural land, which contributed to the increase of investments in the agricultural sector.
- The agricultural land market plays an important role in ensuring food security, development of rural areas and attracting investments to the economy of Ukraine.
