The application for buying train tickets has been adapted for people with visual impairments
“Ukrzaliznytsia” in partnership with Mastercard updated the mobile application for buying train tickets, making it more accessible for people with visual impairments. The application has voice control functions and sounding of all elements, improved contrast and font size, and added a dark theme. This became known from the message UZ on friday
As stated in the message, “Ukrzaliznytsia” together with Mastercard adapted the application for users with visual impairments. All inclusiveness features were developed and tested with the support of Access Lab.
Now you can use VoiceOver (for iOS) and TalkBack (for Android) voice control in the application. To do this, all elements – buttons, switches, text fields, etc. – received text tips explaining their function.
Voiceover of the payment process has also been added, including information about the purchased ticket, the train, the price of the ticket and the number of “hugs” received.
In addition, the application sounds dynamic information, such as a message about incorrect data entry or a description of blocks. The contrast of the interface elements has been improved, and the text remains clear when the size is increased. Clickable areas have also been expanded for ease of use, and the app’s dark theme has become an answer to numerous passenger requests.
