The Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation: ISW
Ukrainian troops launched a new series of battalion mechanized assaults in the Kursk region and advanced to a depth of up to five kilometers behind Russian positions southeast of Suja. About it reports Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
“Geolocation footage released on February 6 indicates that Ukrainian forces recently advanced southwest of Makhnovka (southeast of Suja) and north and east of Cherkasy Konopelka (southeast of Suja) along the 38K-028 Suja-Oboyan highway and captured Kolmakiv (north of Cherkasska Konopelka) and Fanaseyevka (to the southeast of Cherkasy Konopelka)”, – the message says.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukrainian forces launched several waves of attacks in the direction of Cherkasy Konopelka and Ulanok (southeast of Cherkasy Konopelka along Route 38K-028), using armored vehicles and forces against two mechanized battalions, and that Russian units repulsed the attack. According to estimates of Russian military bloggers, Ukrainian troops used from 30 to 50 units of armored vehicles.
“A Russian media blogger linked to the Kremlin claimed that Ukrainian forces captured Cherkasy Konopelka. Some Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian forces had broken into or even captured the village of Ulanok, but other sources also denied these claims. ISW has not yet seen any geolocation evidence that would confirm that Ukrainian forces are operating in Ulanka.” – noted in ISW.
