The Armed Forces of Ukraine are forming a scientific group to reduce losses among servicemen

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are creating an interdepartmental scientific and analytical research working group, which is to develop solutions to reduce losses in the defense forces. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The formation of this group is taking place within the framework of the implementation of the comprehensive program “Saving the Lives of Military Personnel”. The group will operate on the basis of the Central Scientific Research Institute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and will study the causes, structure, and quantitative and qualitative characteristics of combat and non-combat casualties.

As noted in the General Staff, the country’s leading scientific institutions, specialized universities, specialists in the fields of military science, medicine, psychology, management and technology, as well as practitioners with combat experience, will be involved in its work.

“Our priority today is to integrate the strategy of preserving the lives of servicemen into all processes of military management so that every tactical decision, every technology and personnel training are aimed at the successful completion of combat missions with minimizing losses,” – the message says.

The “Saving the Lives of Servicemen” Program launched in 2024. It includes three key areas: training Ukrainian defenders, improving the provision of medical care at all stages, and technological development of the army with the introduction of modern means of warfare.

A number of changes and decisions were implemented in each of these areas, which together allowed reducing losses among servicemen by 13% in various types during 2025, the General Staff added.
