The AUC announced increased pressure on local self-government

Pressure on local self-government bodies is becoming more and more intense. Increasingly, the heads of local communities are removed from their duties under dubious pretexts, which is accompanied by violations of the law. About this it is said in the statement of the Association of Cities of Ukraine (AMU).

“The systemic pressure on local self-government weakens communities and Ukraine as a whole, and therefore leads to a weakening of the country in the war with the aggressor, makes the path to our Victory more difficult. Local self-government is the basis of democracy and an important part of protecting the independence of Ukraine during a full-scale invasion, strong local self-government, we differ from Putin’s Russian Federation,” – it is stated in the appeal of the AMU.

The Association noted specific examples of growing pressure on local self-government. In particular, military administrations are formed even in communities where there is no immediate threat of hostilities, and city mayors are removed from their posts under far-fetched pretexts.

“On the initiative of the Shepetivsky District Police Department, the head of the Netishyn City Council, Oleksandr Suprunyuk, is suspended from duty for 60 days under house arrest for the municipality’s purchase of drones for military units. The head of the Drogobytsk City Council, Taras Kuchma, on the initiative of the Drogobytskyi District TCC, is forcibly delivered using police authorities through the celebration of the Day of the Congregation in the community.

The head of the Irpin city council, Oleksandr Markushin, is arrested for 60 days or offered to pay 30 million hryvnias as bail for the legal departure of a single father whose two-year-old son’s mother died. – reported in AMU.
