The Cabinet of Ministers explained the slowdown in economic growth in 2025

The gross domestic product of Ukraine in January 2025 increased by 1.5%. This is slightly less than in December, when this figure was 1.7%. The Cabinet of Ministers explained the reasons for the slowdown in economic growth at the beginning of the year, informs press service of the Ministry of Economy.

“The slowdown in economic growth in January occurred due to a decrease in the activity of exporters. But high budget financing compensated for the temporary drop in the volume of goods exports.

The key growth factors were: restoration of damaged critical infrastructure, capital reconstruction and repair of roads in emergency areas, housing construction. Purchases of domestic products in the defense industry sector also remained high, and this in turn stimulated an increase in production in engineering.” – said Oleksiy Sobolev, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

According to him, the processing industry, domestic trade and construction maintained positive dynamics. At the same time, a decrease in the production of livestock products was recorded in agriculture, which is associated with an increase in its cost price.

The decline was also observed in the mining and transport sectors. This is caused by the stoppage of mines in the Donetsk region, located on the contact line. In addition, massive missile strikes caused power outages, which also affected economic activity.
