The Cabinet partially allowed women deputies of local councils to travel abroad
The government has adopted a decision that allows women deputies of local councils working on public grounds to travel abroad without hindrance during martial law. This was reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
“Previously, they could not leave even on a legal vacation – to see their relatives or bring aid for our military. This limited volunteer activities and forced some to write a mandate, Svyridenko explained.
She emphasized that the new decision eliminates these barriers:
“We want women deputies to remain active and continue to develop their communities”.
The changes cover female deputies of all levels of councils, with the exception of those who receive a salary for work in local self-government bodies.
We remind you that during the martial law in Ukraine, travel restrictions apply to both men and women holding elected positions. This rule also applied to female deputies of local councils, even if they worked on public grounds. Because of this, they could not leave the country on vacation or for volunteer activities.
