The case of corruption deals in the procurement of electronic warfare and drones was referred to court

The State Bureau of Investigation submitted to court an indictment against the former director of the municipal enterprise of the Seversko-Donetsk City Council and his accomplices.

The defendants in the case are suspected of embezzling more than 5.5 million hryvnias allocated for the purchase of electronic warfare equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles for defense needs. The head of commercial structures and a civilian were also on the dock.

The investigation established that in the period from April to July 2024, contracts were concluded for the supply of 20 electronic warfare stations, 150 FPV drones and three ground stations for military units. Despite official reports and transfers of funds, the equipment did not arrive at the units. Monetary resources were withdrawn to the accounts of controlled enterprises through non-commodity transactions.

The deliveries existed only on paper: the defense forces did not receive the equipment, but more than UAH 5.5 million was withdrawn through non-commodity transactions to controlled enterprises.

The criminal scheme was exposed as part of a joint operation by the State Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine, and the prosecutor’s office. Currently, the property of the defendants has been seized to ensure compensation for the losses caused to the state. The case will be considered on its merits in order to bring all participants in the transaction to justice.

Law enforcement agencies continue their systematic work to identify facts of corruption in the field of defense procurement. Previously, similar schemes of embezzlement of funds were exposed at the enterprises of the state concern “Ukroboronprom” and in the structures of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. All detected violations are under special control of anti-corruption agencies.

The fight against abuse of resources intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains a priority task for the law enforcement system. The state is taking measures to strengthen control over the use of funds in the military-industrial complex and municipal enterprises cooperating with the army. Proper legal assessment of the actions of officials should prevent similar embezzlement in the future.
