The SSU detained an instructor of the Yavoriv training ground, who, on the instructions of the Russian Federation, planned to eliminate the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Security Service of Ukraine delayed the instructor of the Yavoriv training ground, who, on the instructions of the Russian Federation, was preparing for the liquidation of the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The operation was carried out by the military counter-intelligence of the SBU with the support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Lviv region. The detainee turned out to be a double agent who simultaneously worked for the FSB of the Russian Federation and the Russian military intelligence (GRU).
“According to the case materials, the instructor of the Yavoriv training ground turned out to be an enemy accomplice. His task from the GRU of the Russian Federation was to prepare terrorist attacks against the commanders of the Armed Forces, who, together with their units, were undergoing combat training at the local training center of the Defense Forces.” – says the message of the SBU.
It is recorded that the agent received carte blanche from his supervisor to choose the method of liquidation of the military.
“Yes, according to one of the scenarios, the traitor was supposed to make an improvised explosive device (IED), then covertly plant it in the headquarters or training building. Also, the agent was developing an option to use the “dark” of his colleague, who was supposed to bring disguised explosives to the commanders’ training location.”, — reports the SBU.
Another option considered by the agent was the launch of a missile strike by Russian troops at the exact coordinates of the placement of Ukrainian units on the training ground. The SBU managed to expose and document criminal intentions early. The arrest took place at a time when the perpetrator was preparing specific proposals for the liquidation of Ukrainian commanders for his curator.
The investigation established that the agent maintained contact with the curator from the FSB and, on his instructions, collected data on the number and characteristics of units training at the Yavoriv training ground. During the search, three mobile phones with SIM cards, which were used for secret communication with Russian special services, were seized from the traitor.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the SBU declared the detainee a suspect under Part 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason committed under martial law. The suspect is currently in custody without bail.
