The case of the brutal murder of a choreographer in Kharkiv was referred to the court

The case of the brutal murder of the choreographer of the Kharkiv Theater of Music Comedy Maria Kholodnaya was referred to the court, reported Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the Investigative Department of the Kharkiv Oblast Police.
The crime occurred in mid-February 2024, and Kholodnaya’s husband is suspected of having committed it. In 2024, the couple decided to divorce, but the jealous husband decided to settle scores with his wife. He followed her for a long time, and in mid-February he committed a murder in her own home. After that, he tried to stage a meeting of his wife with another man, dismembered her body in the bathroom, buried her head and hands in a forest strip, and took the rest of the body to the country house and tried to burn it.
To confuse the tracks, the suspect carried his wife’s phone around the city for several days and answered messages from her mother, trying to create the impression that Maria was still alive.
After the arrest, the man initially denied his involvement in the murder, but later confessed. He explained that during an argument he pushed his wife in the bathroom, stabbed her in the torso, and then dismembered the body and took it out of the apartment in a bag and a suitcase.
It was established that the suspect was planning to leave the country with a Canadian visa. The couple was left with a 12-year-old son who was staying with his grandmother at the time of the murder.
The police collected enough evidence to charge: video from surveillance cameras, results of DNA tests and other materials indicating that the crime was planned. The accused faces life imprisonment.
