The Chairman of the Odessa Regional Council and his wife were suspected of false declarations

The SAPO and NABU have announced suspicions of the head of the Odessa Regional Council and his wife, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 9th convocation, in entering false data into declarations. Their actions are qualified under Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the NABU press service reports. The Anti-Corruption Center clarified that this concerns Hryhoriy Didenko and his wife Yulia Didenko.
The investigation established that in the annual declarations for 2021–2023, the couple did not indicate property worth more than UAH 8 million. In addition, the SAPO prosecutor, based on NABU materials, filed a lawsuit with the court to declare the family’s assets worth about UAH 5 million unfounded and recover them to the state’s revenue.
It was revealed that the head of the regional council and his wife purchased property worth almost UAH 5 million in 2021–2024, including apartments and two Audi SQ8 cars (2021 and 2024). An analysis of the couple’s income and expenses showed that they had no legal sources to acquire these assets.
“In Didenko’s declaration for 2024 we see 4 apartments in Kyiv, Odessa and Donetsk, an Audi SQ8 car, Swiss watches, jewelry and expensive clothes. We should add that Didenko voted for bill No. 12414 on the destruction of NABU and SAPO. Apparently, Didenko had his own interest in clipping the wings of anti-corruption bodies,” — the CPC added.
