The Chinese Foreign Minister stated that Putin is ready to start peace talks without preconditions.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow, Putin declared his readiness to start a peace dialogue regarding Ukraine without any preconditions. According to the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the Russian leader expressed hope that such negotiations could lead to the conclusion of a fair and lasting peace agreement.
Wang Yi said this on May 10, his words leads state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua. The minister also noted that Putin positively assessed Beijing’s neutral and impartial position regarding the war in Ukraine, and emphasized openness to the peace process without making any prior demands.
In addition, as Wang Yi stated, the leader of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, emphasized the support of any initiatives aimed at ending the military conflict, and noted that Beijing welcomes all sincere efforts that lead to peace in Ukraine.
Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow, timed to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, was, according to Wang Yi, a testament to the stability of the Sino-Russian partnership. The minister emphasized that Beijing and Moscow firmly stand on the position of preserving historical truth, condemn revisionism and support the ideas of justice as an alternative to domination and hegemony in the world.
