The Coalition of the Willing has developed a 5-point plan to support Ukraine
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, following a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, announced that its participants had agreed on a 5-point plan to support Ukraine. The document provides for strengthening air defense, transferring long-range weapons, and unlocking frozen Russian assets. He stated this during a press conference after a meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing in London.
“Our coalition is ready to work further to increase pressure on Putin on the battlefield, as well as on his military economy, in order to push him to the negotiating table. We have developed a concrete plan together by the end of the year,”, Starmer said.
According to him, the plan includes a number of steps. First of all, this is the withdrawal of Russian oil and gas from global markets.
“We encourage everyone to implement these sanctions, to reduce dependence on gas. We also call on third countries to stop buying Russian resources, which have been tarnished and bloodied by war”, the British Prime Minister noted.
The second point is to unblock billions of euros of frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine.
“It is Russia that must pay for everything it has done and destroyed in Ukraine. That is why we must do everything to ensure that reparations and funds remain in Ukraine, ”Starmer stressed.
The third area concerns strengthening Ukraine’s air defence system.
“We are also announcing today an increase in the UK programme to provide Ukraine with 5,000 new multi-purpose missiles. This will also provide jobs in Belfast and other cities across the country. And this strengthens Ukraine’s air defense for the winter, he added. The document also provides for increased pressure on Vladimir Putin, in particular by transferring long-range weapons to Ukraine, and the final point is to continue work on security guarantees for Ukraine. We will continue our work on security guarantees, including also multinational forces in Ukraine, to ensure a lasting and just peace in Ukraine, the Prime Minister emphasized. Recall that on October 24, a meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing was held in London, dedicated to increasing pressure on Russia and determining further steps in supporting Ukraine. The event was held in a mixed format – in person and online. Before the meeting, Volodymyr Zelensky met with King Charles III of Great Britain, and later arrived at the residence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
