The Council passed the law on mobilization: what does it mean for Ukrainians?
On April 11, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted draft law on mobilization No. 10449 in its entirety. 283 People’s Deputies voted for him.
About this reported People’s Deputy Oleksii Zhelezniak:
“In the editorial office of the Committee. All 31 considered amendments received votes for confirmation. No intrigue except for the edit about demobilization (there is 227). It is not yet known whether someone will introduce a resolution to be blocked by the speaker.”
The law provides:
- Update of data on conscripts:
- Within 60 days, all military conscripts must update their data at the military commissariat, TsNAP or in the electronic cabinet.
- Men must carry their military registration documents and present them at the request of the police or TCC.
- Cancellation of postponement:
- For graduate students studying on contract.
- For those who acquire the next education, which is not higher than the previous one.
- Introduction of “basic military school”:
- For citizens, which can be completed while studying at a university or in training centers of the Armed Forces.
- Such training will begin on September 1, 2025.
- Responsibility for evading mobilization:
- The TCC can deprive evaders of their driver’s licenses through the court.
- A significant increase in fines is foreseen.
Importantly:
- The law on mobilization does not mean that all conscripts are immediately mobilized.
- Mobilization will be carried out in stages, taking into account the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- Whether mobilization will be announced, and in what form it will take place, will be reported additionally.
