The development of new series of the cartoon “ Patron the Dog” suspended due to Trump’s closure of USAID programs
The development of new series of the cartoon “ Patron the Dog” had to be suspended after Trump canceled USAID programs. Because of this, five episodes of the second season of the series remained unfinished, reported screenwriter Oleksandra Ruban.
“Now the grant programs have been closed, it is very difficult to get other grants. And with “Patron” it is quite difficult. No Nickelodeon, Disney+, or Netflix will purchase a children’s series that tells children about mine danger in a light and non-retraumatizing way,” she said.
Ruban added that “Pes Patron” is a social, not a commercial project, and all series were produced exclusively with USAID grant funds. There were ten episodes of the first season, a special episode about the “Club of Furries Anonymous,”, as well as five episodes of the second season.
“And we didn’t finish the last five, because Mr. Trump said about USAID like this: “Managed the grant programs by a bunch of crazy people, and we will drive them out. And grant programs were canceled. Because of this, our other animated series was also affected, – the screenwriter added.
“ Patron Dog” is a Ukrainian educational animated web series from 2023 about the well-known exchange dog Patron. He saves animals, defuses explosive objects and befriends a cat named Tom. Director Anastasia Falileeva and screenwriter Oleksandra Ruban worked on the cartoon.
The first series of “Psa Patrona” On YouTube, Patron the Dog currently has 4.5 million views, the second series has 3.5 million, and the average number of views per episode is around 2 million.
