The EU will allocate 50 million euros for the reconstruction of Ukrainian hospitals

The European Union will allocate 50 million euros for the reconstruction of Ukrainian hospitals that have been damaged by the war or are working under increased workload. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

During the fifth meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ukraine Investment Framework (UIF), additional financing under EU guarantees was agreed for the joint project of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the World Bank “Strengthening the Health System and Saving Lives” (HEAL Ukraine).

About 50 million euros are planned to be allocated for the reconstruction of medical institutions that have suffered significant damage as a result of military operations or serve a large number of patients, including internally displaced persons.

The funds will finance the preparatory and construction stages of projects – feasibility studies, environmental and social assessments, development of design and tender documentation, construction and installation works, technical supervision, as well as the purchase of modern medical and laboratory equipment. The selection of specific hospitals for the implementation of measures will take place after the final confirmation of funding.

Separately, the meeting discussed the attraction of funds from the Czech Republic through the NRB within the framework of the “Renovation and Modernization of Hospitals” program. It is expected that these resources will be used to upgrade the material and technical base of medical institutions, supply equipment and carry out repair work as needed.

The Ministry of Health thanked international partners for their systematic support of Ukrainian medicine, in particular for financial assistance, which contributes to the restoration of damaged infrastructure and strengthening the ability of hospitals to provide quality medical care during the war.
