In Kyiv was held The 25th Congress of Surgeons of Ukraine is a large-scale medical event that gathered about a hundred participants from all over the country. Among them were doctors of various surgical specialties, military medics, interns and students of medical institutions.

The organizers of the event were the NGO “ Association of Surgeons of Ukraine” and the National Scientific Center of Surgery and Transplantology named after O.O. Shalimov with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.

The congress program included reports and discussions from all areas of modern surgery — from emergency, pediatric, and cardiovascular surgery to oncology, transplantology, and reconstructive and restorative interventions. The participants also took part in master classes, clinical discussions and round tables, where they discussed modern approaches to treatment, the organization of surgical service in wartime and other topical issues.

“This is an important platform for dialogue that brings together the professional community to openly discuss achievements, challenges and vectors of development. In the conditions of full-scale war, surgery has become a critical life-saving link. I am grateful to each of you for your professionalism and dedicated work. Our task is to ensure that you have the right conditions and modern technology to make decisions. Together we are building a system that will withstand the challenges of war and become the foundation of medicine in peacetime,” emphasized Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.

XXV congress of surgeons of Ukraine became the first large-scale meeting of the professional surgical community in this format in eight years. The previous congress was held eight years ago, and such a long pause was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, quarantine restrictions and the start of a full-scale war.
