The authorities of the Sumy region announced the voluntary evacuation of residents of the cities of Bilopol’ and Vorozhba in connection with increased shelling by Russian troops.
“We must protect our population. This is our main task, which was given to me by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. This is not a forced, but early voluntary evacuation“, – emphasized Volodymyr Artyukh, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
Currently, the population is being alerted in the cities. Those who wish to evacuate can contact the elders or heads of their communities. They will be placed in safe places in the region.
Artyukh recalled that from January to April 2024, 40 people were killed and 110 injured, including 13 children, as a result of shelling in the Sumy region.
