The family of the former Deputy Minister of Energy purchased a cottage for 35 million during the war

The family of former Deputy Minister of Energy Maksym Nemchynov was at the center of a scandal due to luxurious acquisitions during the war. BIHUS.info journalists found out, that during the full-scale Russian aggression, the Nemchynov family bought a cottage in a prestigious town on the shore of the Kyiv Sea, worth about 35 million hryvnias, and also significantly updated their car fleet.

The family’s new estate is located in the cottage town of GoodLife Park, which the developers call “the embodiment of the ideal dream of country life.” Residents have access to luxury amenities such as a restaurant, fitness center, yacht club and even a helipad. The cost of houses in this area ranges from 27 to more than 41 million hryvnias, and the Nemchynov family did not skimp on the purchase of luxury real estate.

Purchases against the background of suspicion of corruption

Maksym Nemchynov is already involved in a criminal case related to the organization of a scheme for the sale of coal, which caused millions of dollars in losses to the state. Despite this, Nemchynov did not lose his influence in the energy sector, even after his resignation from the post of deputy minister in 2021. He continued his career as an adviser to the current minister, Herman Galushchenko, and his powers went far beyond the advisory role.

Scandalous devices with coal

The investigation also sheds light on the coal sale scheme in which Nemchynov was involved. According to NABU, instead of supplying coal to the state TPP, the Ukrvugilya company, under pressure from Nemchynov and Vecherka, sold it to the private company “Interbis” at a significantly reduced price. This arrangement led to the fact that state stations were left without the necessary fuel, and “Interbis” sold coal with a profit of 20 million hryvnias.

Millions of family fortunes

Despite the economic challenges brought by the war, the Nemchynov family demonstrates impressive financial gains. In 2023, more than $300,000 was kept in the couple’s accounts, and Nemchynov’s wife even lent $100,000 to a loss-making company. In addition, in addition to buying a house, the family significantly increased their cash reserves and made expensive purchases, including new cars.
