Maibozhenko admitted his guilt and stated that he partially compensated the expenses for the treatment of the victims. However, according to the victims, the mother and daughter have not received any funds in the past five months, other than promises, and had to pay for treatment and rehabilitation on their own.
The exhibition gardener, who is currently retired, claimed that his financial capabilities were limited due to the lack of work. He asked the court to release him from custody in order to be able to fully reimburse the costs of treatment for the victims. At the same time, he noted that he did not ask for an apology from them in order to avoid accusations of pressure.
