The general contractor for bridge construction was ordered to pay the state UAH 109 million
The court ruled to oblige the general contractor for the construction of bridges in Zaporizhia to pay over UAH 109 million in inflation losses and 3% per annum due to violation of the terms of the contract. This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
“This is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country – the construction of a highway across the Dnieper, which is to connect the right and left banks of Zaporizhia,” the prosecutor’s office explained.
The project involves the construction of a 9.1 km road, which includes two bridges 660 and 340 meters long. They will pass through both arms of the Dnieper and Khortytsia Island.
In 2020, the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service signed a contract with a contractor, and at the end of 2021, the company received UAH 410 million in advance from the state budget for the work.
However, the company did not use these funds within the terms specified in the contract and did not return them on time, the Prosecutor General’s Office noted. Because of this, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit with a demand to recover inflation losses and 3% per annum in the amount of UAH 109 million. The Commercial Court satisfied the claim in full.
