The son of former Minister of Energy and Justice Galushchenko has been studying at one of the most expensive colleges in Europe for the fourth year: results of the investigation
The son of former Minister of Energy and Justice Herman Galushchenko, Maksym, has been studying at the prestigious private college College Alpin Beau Soleil in Switzerland for the fourth year, where annual tuition and living expenses reach about $200,000. Galushchenko did not indicate such expenses in his declarations. This is reported in the investigation “Schemes”
Journalists identified 18-year-old Maksym in college photographs from 2022–2025. In addition to tuition, more than 25,000 Swiss francs are spent on medical insurance, expeditions, and cultural activities. The college does not provide scholarships or financial assistance to students.
Galushchenko’s family moved to Europe after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion: first to Spain, and later to Switzerland. For four years of study, education expenses could reach about 700,000 dollars (almost 26 million UAH).
The former minister’s lawyer noted that Galushchenko’s ex-wife, not he, is paying for his tuition. At the same time, an analysis of Olga Bohdanova’s income in previous years shows that official income would hardly have covered such an amount.
According to Ukrainian law, expenses exceeding UAH 151,400 are subject to declaration, and Halushchenko’s income as a civil servant did not exceed $380,000.
On November 19, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a decision to dismiss Herman Halushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk amid a corruption scandal in the energy sector, and the deputies never received their explanations regarding their appearance in the NABU “Midas” case.
