The German government plans to consider the possibility of canceling financial assistance to Ukrainian refugees

The German government plans to consider the possibility of canceling financial assistance to those Ukrainian refugees who refuse an offer of employment.
The Prime Minister of Saxony Michael Kretschmer said:
“Germany is a country of immigration and it is currently the easiest for Ukrainians to integrate into the labor market. But only 20 percent of 1.13 million Ukrainians are employed, because they do not need a job, because they receive considerable assistance from the state.”
The German government aims to stimulate the labor activity of Ukrainian refugees, therefore, in case of refusal of the offered job, their social support may be reduced or completely stopped.
In addition, the Prime Minister emphasized that employment is the key to successful integration into German society, therefore he called on Ukrainians to quickly use their experience and knowledge in order to find a job and be socially active.
For reference:
Currently, refugees from Ukraine are entitled to social assistance in Germany in the form of the following basic unemployment benefits:
– single people – 563 euros per month;
– spouses – 506 euros per person;
– children – from 357 to 471 euros per month depending on age.
In Germany, health insurance, living expenses (rent) and heating are also reimbursed. In general, the state spends 6 billion euros a year on Ukrainian refugees.
