In the correctional colony No. 16, located in the village of Bozhkivske in the Poltava region, a group of people was found who abused the prisoners and were also involved in the murder of one of them. About this reported DBR press office.
“The Bureau exposed a large-scale system of torture of prisoners in the Bozhkov colony. In the course of painstaking work, the investigators managed to prove not only the facts of abuse and beatings, but also the actual murder of prisoners, when the brutality of torture caused the death of prisoners.”, the message says.
As noted in the SBI, cruelty was applied to almost everyone who entered the colony for the first time. The new arrivals were beaten and intimidated until they obeyed without question. One of the prisoners was tortured so brutally that he died from his injuries.
The investigation also recorded that the convicts were forced to carry out humiliating orders, including cleaning the floor of the cell. If they refused, they were tortured – they were beaten with hands, feet, batons, sticks, and their hands were twisted. In one of the documented cases, the convict was beaten more than 200 times.
The SBI notified five employees of the colony of new suspicions under the articles “organized group” and “torture” (Part 3 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code). The organizer of the criminal group is additionally charged with “intentional grievous bodily harm” (Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code).
