The government has allowed the non-application of outage schedules on lines that provide electricity to at least 80% of consumers
The government has adopted amendments to regulations that stipulate that hourly outage schedules will not be applied to distributed generation facilities that provide electricity to at least 80% of consumers connected to one line. This was announced by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The innovation should stimulate the installation of new distributed generation facilities and their integration into the unified energy system. The government expects that this will increase the resilience of the energy infrastructure to Russian attacks and create additional opportunities for balancing electricity production and consumption.
A control mechanism is also provided. The distribution system operator will check the actual level of consumer supply. If the indicator is lower than 80%, hourly disconnections will be applied to such lines.
The Cabinet of Ministers emphasizes that the decision is aimed at supporting communities and consumers who invest in the development of local generation and strengthen the energy security of the state.
Currently, Ukraine’s need for additional electrical and thermal capacity exceeds 1,800 MW, lost due to the destruction of critical infrastructure facilities.
