The Government of Ukraine has allowed men aged 18 to 22 to travel abroad
On August 26, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted changes to the procedure for crossing the state border. From now on, men between the ages of 18 and 22 will have the opportunity to freely leave Ukraine during martial law. This rule applies to all citizens of the appropriate age category, reports Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
“Today, the government updated the procedure for crossing the state border. Men between the ages of 18 and 22 will be able to cross the border freely during martial law. It is about all citizens of the appropriate age. This decision also applies to citizens who are abroad for various reasons. We want Ukrainians to maintain ties with Ukraine as much as possible, – said the head of the government.
She specified that the changes will enter into force the next day after the official publication of the Cabinet resolution.
We will remind you that on July 19, 2025, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced that the parliament is discussing the possibility of allowing men aged 18 to 24 to leave Ukraine. This issue was raised both by individual people’s deputies and by the specialized committee on national security, defense and intelligence.
On August 12, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the government, together with the military command, will work on simplifying the procedure for crossing the border for men under the age of 22. He called this initiative a “positive and correct story” that will allow young Ukrainians to maintain ties with the state and realize themselves in the field of education.
