Ukraine launches compensation payments to veterans for car conversions
The Ukrainian government has approved the initiative of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs to introduce compensation for the conversion of cars. Disabled veterans will be able to receive up to 70 thousand hryvnias for these needs each year. This was reported by Taras Melnychuk, a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada.
He noted that the pilot project provides for the provision of monetary compensation to disabled veterans for the conversion of their own cars for two years. Its goal is to help people with disabilities as a result of the war adapt vehicles for independent driving, which will contribute to their socialization, increase mobility, and also expand opportunities for employment, participation in public life, and the exercise of the right to independent living.
It is envisaged that monetary compensation will be paid to recipients within the limits of actual, documented expenses, but not more than 70 thousand hryvnias. It will be available to persons who own a vehicle defined in paragraph eight of Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine “On Motor Transport”. The payment will be provided once during the term of the pilot project, provided that the recipient has not previously received similar compensation from the state budget.
As a reminder, on November 4, the government approved a project to develop a system of long-term medical care for veterans of the war with Russia. This involves expanding the capabilities of medical institutions in providing long-term care to military personnel who, due to injuries, trauma or serious illnesses, require constant support.
