The leader of the Czech Republic made an unexpected and strange statement about the war in Ukraine
The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, said that Ukraine should come to terms with the fact that part of its territories may remain under Russian control even after the end of the war. About this informs The New York Times.
Pavel emphasized that Ukrainians and their allies need to look at the situation realistically. Given that some countries friendly to Russia are undermining European unity in support of Ukraine, Kyiv must be prepared for the fact that the return of all occupied territories may be unlikely.
“The most likely result of the war will be that part of the Ukrainian territory will be under Russian occupation, temporarily”, – said Pavel.
He added that this “temporary” could last for years.
At the beginning of this year, Petr Pavel announced that the Czech Republic is ready to provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of shells, but additional funding is needed to implement this project. A number of Western countries later joined this initiative.
Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala also confirmed that by the end of 2024, Ukraine will receive about 500,000 more ammunition. This will be an important support in resisting Russian aggression.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic is preparing to resume the initiative to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine, involving Czech manufacturers in the process. This indicates the further intentions of the Czech Republic to provide assistance to Ukraine in the military sphere, despite the difficult political situation.
