The leaders of the United States, Qatar, Turkey and Egypt signed a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip during a peace summit in Egypt. US President Donald Trump put his signature first, reports BBC.
“Everyone is happy. Previously, there were predictions that the Third World War would begin in the Middle East. But this will not happen, Donald Trump declared.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced that Egypt and Jordan will train Palestinian police officers as part of the peace agreement, which provides for the cessation of hostilities. At the same time, he emphasized that this requires the support of European countries in expanding these efforts.
Donald Trump thanked his team for working on what he called the “most difficult” agreement:
“I thought it would probably be the most difficult, and maybe it was in a lot of ways, but we had a lot of talented people. We had an amazing pool of talent and we were helped in particular by the countries represented at this table.
We would like to remind you that on October 13, an international summit called “Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh” was held in Sharm el-Sheikh. It was co-chaired by the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the President of the United States Donald Trump, and the leaders of more than 20 countries took part. The goal of the summit is to end the war in the Gaza Strip, strengthen peace initiatives and stability in the Middle East, as well as initiate a new phase of regional security.
