The Long Neptune cruise missile was officially shown in Ukraine for the first time.

Ukraine for the first time officially showed a long-range modification of the R-360 cruise missile “Neptune”, which received the unofficial name “Long Neptune”. reports “Defense Express”.

This version has been tested and confirmed the ability to hit targets at a distance of up to 1000 km. Its development became known back in November 2023, but no images have been made public so far. Currently, on the official page of the state portal “Weapons” a video has appeared, which probably shows exactly “Long Neptune” next to other Ukrainian weapons.

Although the technical characteristics of the new missile have not been officially disclosed, it was previously reported that its flight range reaches 1,000 km, and its main purpose is to hit ground targets. Given that “Long Neptune” has already been used against the enemy since March, its appearance hardly came as a surprise to the Russians.

At the same time, the tail part with the engine remained unchanged, and it can be used as a “landmark” to determine the dimensions. This indicates that the length of the modified missile exceeds 6 meters (without an accelerator), that is, about one and a half meters more than the basic P-360.

The central part of the fuselage of the “Long Neptune” became thicker – approximately 50 cm in diameter instead of the previous 38 cm. Thus, the rocket not only lengthened, but also increased in width. This is most likely done to increase the volume of the fuel tanks. At the same time, the nose fairing retained its former diameter.

The areas of the wings and tail have increased accordingly, which helps to compensate for the increased take-off mass. In the basic modification, the warhead weighed 150 kg, but the exact parameters of the new version are still unknown.

“We should add that the state portal “Weapons” is positioned as a place with all government services and programs for arms manufacturers, as well as in the role of a single brand for Ukrainian arms. It was created by the Ministry of Strategic Industries, which ceased to exist on July 21, 2025, transferring the powers of the Ministry of Defense, – the message says.
