The MES recorded a record number of men entering master’s and postgraduate studies

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine expressed concern about the record number of men who are registering for entrance exams for master’s and postgraduate studies in 2024.
According to Deputy Minister Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, the number of applicants has exceeded 200,000, which is much more than usual figures.
About this reported Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi.
This influx of men of draft age raises the suspicion that some of them may be using training as a way to avoid mobilisation. In this regard, the Ministry of Education plans to strengthen selection for master’s and postgraduate studies, making the entrance exams tougher.
“Education should not be a means of avoiding a constitutional duty“, Vynnytskyi emphasized. He noted that the goal of the Ministry of Education is to provide quality education for those who really want to study, and not to use it as a cover.
According to the deputy minister, this year the entrance exams will be uniform for all specialties, which may also increase their complexity.
The Ministry of Education hopes that such measures will help weed out those who do not have serious intentions of obtaining higher education, and ensure fair access to education for all interested parties.
