Ukraine will receive emergency electricity from the EU

Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that on Thursday, May 23, in the morning and afternoon hours, Ukraine will receive emergency assistance with electricity from Romania, Slovakia and Poland.

“During the day, Ukraine provided emergency assistance to Poland – received surplus electricity from the country’s power system. In addition, there were emergency shutdowns in Poltava and Sumy regions. From 0:00 to 7:00, as well as from 19:00 to 24:00 in all regions restrictions of industrial and household consumers were applied“, the message says.

The needs of consumers in the previous day were covered by own generation, commercial imports and emergency assistance from these countries.

Consequences of shelling

Due to damage at one of the mines in Donetsk region, the ventilation equipment stopped, as a result of which more than 160 workers temporarily remained underground.

Network status:

Emergency shutdowns occurred in Sumy Oblast and Kharkiv Oblast due to equipment damage, but power supply to consumers was restored.

Energy situation in the regions on May 23:

  • Kharkiv region: Electricity supply has been restored in Kharkiv and Chuguyev after shelling.
  • Donetsk region: Gas supply has been restored to more than 200 consumers.
  • Sumy Region: Gas supply was restored to 39 consumers.
  • Dnipropetrovsk region: Technological failures have been eliminated, recovery work is ongoing after hostilities.
  • Zhytomyr Region: Gas leakage after damage to the gas pipeline was eliminated.
  • Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions: Reconstruction work continues after shelling and hostilities.
  • Transcarpathian region: The gas leak in Beregov has been eliminated.

Energy workers continue to work on the restoration of energy infrastructure in regions affected by hostilities and shelling.
