The Minister of Defense announced Ukrainian developments in the field of countering ballistic missiles and called on the EU for cooperation
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov addressed European partners with an appeal to join forces to create an effective system to counter ballistic missiles. He stressed the need to accelerate the use of EU financial support and continue the implementation of the PURL program.
This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine following the results of a video conference with the E5 countries. The meeting was attended by the heads of defense ministries of Poland, Germany, and France, as well as representatives of the European Union and NATO.
During the discussion, Fedorov noted that the European defense industry must urgently increase the production of missile defense equipment, as the existing capacities are insufficient. He also proposed launching joint projects with European states to develop and produce systems to counter ballistic threats, adding that Ukraine already has its own experience in this area.
Separately, the meeting participants focused on financing the PURL program, which plays a key role in providing PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
“The minister thanked the partners for the specific decisions made during the meeting in the Ramstein format. He separately expressed gratitude to Boris Pistorius for the initiative for additional supplies of PAC-3 missiles. Ukraine has already begun to receive missiles within the framework of these agreements,” the statement said. message.
