The Ministry of Defence will purchase the latest UAVs for the Armed Forces for UAH 147 billion

During the first ten months of 2024, the Ministry of Defence, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, signed contracts for the supply of 1.6 million units of unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, with a total value of over UAH 114 billion. The Ministry’s press service reports.

As of today, orders for 1.28 million drones have already been completed, which is more than UAH 81 billion. By the end of the year, another 366,940 units of drones are expected to be delivered to complete the plan.

The deliveries include various models of drones that perform strategic and tactical missions, including deep strike drones such as the Deepstrike Kamikaze, FPV Kamikaze, reconnaissance copters such as the DJI Mavic, as well as reconnaissance aircraft and wing drones. The diversity of drones provides a significant advantage on the battlefield, enabling units to respond quickly to changing challenges.

More purchases are planned for 2025: the contract covers 155,205 units of unmanned aerial vehicles worth UAH 32.33 billion, which will enhance the army’s capabilities with advanced models of reconnaissance and attack drones.

In total, in 2024-2025, the Ministry of Defence, in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, has already contracted the supply of almost 1.8 million UAVs worth about UAH 147 billion. This large-scale project is also supported by other Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, the National Guard and the Security Service of Ukraine. Additionally, military units and volunteer organisations continue to purchase drones to equip their units.
