The Ministry of Defense has improved the system of payment of one-time cash assistance in wartime
Ministry of Defense of Ukraine improved the procedure for providing one-time monetary assistance in wartime conditions. Corresponding changes to the current procedure were initiated by the department and approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. They concern servicemen, conscripts, reservists and their families.
According to the updated regulations, in the event of the death of a serviceman within one year after discharge from service, if the death occurred as a result of an injury, contusion, mutilation or disease related to the performance of military duties or service, the date of drawing up the death certificate shall be considered the date of the right to financial assistance. Previously, this term was calculated from the date indicated on the death certificate. The same approach applies to conscripts and reservists.
Situations regarding unidentified persons are regulated separately. If the identity of a serviceman, conscript or reservist was established after identification, the right to assistance can be exercised from the date of making appropriate changes to the death certificate. In cases where a person went missing, but his death was subsequently officially confirmed, the date of the death certificate, specified in the certificate, is also the basis for receiving assistance.
The resolution also provides for the introduction of a uniform approach to the provision of assistance during martial law. Determination of the procedure and terms of payment in such cases will be carried out by the Ministry of Defense and other authorities in agreement with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy. These changes aim to make the assistance mechanism more transparent, fairer and adapted to wartime conditions.
